Hit the accelerator and you feel more than raw power. The 550ps twin-turbo V6 has massive strength, but it’s highly refined. Rather than traditional cast-iron liners, each cylinder features a unique plasma coating with an independent intake system for each bank of cylinders. The powerful twin turbo takes advantage of a Premium Midship (PM) design for balance, where much of the engine sits back in the chassis. Uniquely brilliant, built to perform.
The Nissan GT-R can accelerate from 0-60 in just 2.8sec, placing it alongside hypercar royalty such as the McLaren P1 and Ferrari LaFerrari. The GT-R apped the Nurburgring in 7m18.6s. This means that the GT-R is one of the fastest production cars to ever lap the Nordschleife, placing it at the sharp end of a list that includes both exotic two-seater supercars and stripped out track-spec machinery.
Every GT-R® engine is hand-assembled by a single technician – one of only four allowed the honor to be called Nissan's legendary Takumi – in a dust-free, temperature-controlled clean room. Each twin-turbo V6 is precisely assembled from lightweight, highly durable aluminum and magnesium parts. Once complete, the engine is tested. It goes through 44 minutes of bench testing and break in, where the engine is redlined for 10 solid minutes.
